Gli “an Handful of Dust” sono una metal band di Tarcento nata sul finire dell’anno 2000. I primi componenti della band sono stati il bassista Gianluca e il batterista Christian seguiti dal chitarrista Luca. Dopo qualche tempo il chitarrista Fabio e il cantante Simone si sono uniti alla band che ora era pronta per partire. Con questa formazione hanno hanno fatto alcuni show durante i primi mesi del 2002. Dopo un periodo positivo per la band il cantante Simone ha avuto un problema alla gola e ha lasciato la band per curarsi. Nello stesso periodo la band ha continuato a provare e a scrivere canzoni. L’attività live si è quasi fermata, hannao suonato solo poche volte, una di queste è stato il Nine Fear Festival al Garage 56 (Basaldella - Udine) assieme ai Rumors of Gehenna e agli Slowmotion Apocalypse. Questo è stato l’ultimo show con Simone alla voce. Dopo il gruppo ha cercato un sostituo alla voce e lo ha trovato in Mauro. La band ha poi finito di scrivere i pezzi e ha iniziato a registrare il primo full-length demo “I’ll show you my fear”, e in questi giorni (2007), dopo un lungo periodo schifido, ha finito le registrazioni (fra poco sarà disponibile sia il cd autoprodotto sia alcune canzoni su myspace e sul sito della band) ed è pronta a ricominciare.
Più forte che mai.
Parlando di musica, uno può descrivere il sound della band come una miscela dell’aggressività e dell’energia del thrash metal con la melodia e il dinamismo del progressive.

“an Handful of Dust” it’s an heavy metal, Tarcento (UD) based band born in late 2000. The initial founder-members of the band were bass player Gianluca and drummer Christian shortly followed by guitarist Luca. After a little while guitarist Fabio and singer Simone joined the band. With this complete line up, the band was ready to start. With this formation they made some gigs in early 2002. After a good period for the band singer Simone got ill in his throat and left the band for rehab. Meanwhile the band continued rehearsing and writing songs. Live activity was nearly stopped, they did only few shows one of this was “Nine Fear Festival 1″ at Garage 56 (Basaldella - Udine) together with Rumors of Gehenna and Slowmotion Apocalypse. This was the last show with Simone as Singer. After that the band looked for a new singer and signed Mauro. The band finished writing the songs and began the recording sessions for their first full-length demo “I’ll show you my fear”, and nowadays (2007), after a long time of bullshit, the band finished the recordings (not long from now it will be ready the selfproduced cd and some songs on myspace and on the official website) and it’s ready to come back.

Speaking about music, one can describe the sound of the band as a mixture between the
agressivness and energy of thrash metal with the melody and dynamism of progressive music.
